Located in  New York Harbor, one-half mile from the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island holds the title of the largest renovation project in American history. Now an immigration museum, it provides a vivid and accurate perspective of our country's past.

Project Scope:


The main building houses New York's third largest museum, and in addition to numerous exhibit rooms, it offers two theaters, an oral history archive, libraries, and exhibits depicting the immigrant experience and the human aspect of the great migration to America. This $186 million project included:


  • Complete Infrastructure modernization

  • Extensive site work and a "Wall of Honor"

  • Kitchen and laundry preservation

  • Railroad ticket office restoration

  • Historic fabric preservation

  • Main building restoration

  • New power house

  • New docking facilities
